Dear Friends of winter sports!

Servus and welcome!

Soon the WorldSkitest 2010/11 will starts once again and we are looking forward to the innovations of the ski industry.

The WorldSkitest will take place from ßApril, 6th till April 8th - for the second time- in Heiligenblut-Groglockner.

We are looking forward to ideal slopes and hope the weather is fine. Of course we are interested to test the new skis 2010/11 for you and present you the results in autum. We offer you a great service - the SkiSelector - its a helpful to find the optimal Ski for your - please try it.

Here the most important information about the WorldSkitest ...
The WorldSkitest is generally done as a “blind test” as every pair of ski is getting taped with black tape and is therefore made unrecognizable. Bindings are adjusted by the WorldSkitest service team. After every run the test person had to fill out an evaluation sheet and give points from 1 to 10: short swings, long swings, grip, maneuverability and general effort.

Under the guarding eyes of Head of Testing, Olympic Champion Franz Klammer the worldwide ten best ski brands have been put through their paces.

In order to give the consumer an as accurate as possible support for the buying process – different categories have been tested by about 150 pros and highly advanced amateur skiers representing wide ranged “ski competence”. Active as well as former World Cup Stars and Olympic Champions and experienced amateurs tested the latest models thoroughly.

All the results will be published in autum on this page - we are looking forward to see you ...

All the best

Gerhard Brüggler & Franz Klammer
Organizer WST  & Leader of the Test

Gerhard Brüggler, Peter Zauchner, Rudi Omann
Head of the WorldSkitest Gerhard Brüggler, Manager of Großglockner Mountain Railways Peter Zauchner and Head of WorldSkitest FashionShow Rudi Omann

As in the last years the WorldSkitest was accompanied by enjoyable side-events like a fashion show for winter and ski fashion, presenting well known brands like Spyder, Kjus Besson, Girardelli, E+O, Zanier and Carrera. On top we had life acts of Luttenberger*Klug, the “Young Zillertaler” and “Nordwand” who were getting the test crowd and VIP´s into the right party mood. “Zauberberg was doing its magic” – in the true sense of the meaning.
As the promoters we ´d like to wish you a good time reading through this magazine hoping you´ll find plenty of useful information there as well as a great time with YOUR perfect ski in the coming winter season!

All the best

Michaela Gerg-Leitner
(Ex German World Class Skier)

The WST is the most professional ski test I have ever seen and heard of. To tape the skis black and make them unrecognizable is a very good idea as they prevent people to support their preferred brands.

Nicola Werdenigg
(Edelwiser)

A broad spectrum of test people and an exciting test system- due to the blackened skis there is no influence and results are really objective. And for the industry it is an enormous challenge to produce skis that are really inviting and a pleasure to ski with.

Franz Klammer
(Head of Testing)

We want to support and help the customer, not to find the best, but the right ski for him/her. Personally I don´t really care about design and colors: a ski has to be a ski!

Verena Höllbacher
(European Cup)

Those skis in the category “Ladies Slalom Race “demanded a lot…it is really impressive, what kind of skis the industry is bringing to the market every year.

Werner Franz
(Ex Austrian Worldcup Skier)

For me, the most important thing is the handling of the skis. When it comes to sales, design is also an important factor. I am also glad to see, that safety is an important issue with WST and almost everybody is wearing a helmet.

Raimund Berger
(Head of Testing)

WST is really significant as we do have again very good tester and test material. Safety is the crucial point as we do want to have an accident-free even

Marcel Hirscher
(Austrian Worldcup Skier)

With the WST top skiers are testing the models thoroughly and that is the perfect help for every customer. The latest trend: the modern design of the“free ski” is transferred to all the other categories.

Margita Marbler
(Freestyler)

I am so happy that I am able to help consumers with their buying decision. And for me personally, it is a very good time and it will hold lots of wonderful memories.

Bernard Vajdic
(Slovenian Skier)

It is my first time to take part at the WST, it´s great fun and organization is just perfect. I am looking forward coming back next year.

Fritz Strobl
(Olympic Champion)

I think that WST is a great thing, as it is fair and objective. In addition it is a perfect opportunity to test various models and learn the differences.

Ingrid Salvenmoser
(Ex Ski Star)

The testing procedure has been the same now for eight years and that only proves that the WST is significant and valid. In terms of safety a helmet and back protector should be standard on the slopes and just a natural thing to put on

Urska Hrovath
(Ex Ski Star)

It is my fourth time with WST and every single time has been a great experience. You meet lots of friends and have a real good time together. It is my fourth time with WST and every single time has been a great experience. You meet lots of friends and have a real good time together.

Hans Knauss
(ORF Expert)

Ski industry is constantly working on improvements of their models and this year there are some really good skis available. As a long-timer with WST I can only say: keep on going, everything is great!
