The WorldSkitest 2021 - Mölltaler Glacier - Hohe Tauern ski region

WorldSkitest in the month of May sounds unusual, but in times of Corona we all needed and need a good dose of flexibility. In these difficult times, our great partners have created the perfect framework to successfully carry out our 3 ski tests - AlpineSkitest, FreerideSkitest and TouringSkitest - bundled on the Mölltal Glacier. Of course, everything in compliance with the statutory Covid-19 hygiene and safety regulations.

The snow conditions on the Mölltal Glacier couldn't have been better for the end of May, perfectly groomed slopes together with more than enough fresh snow on the first day made the hearts of both testers and organizers beat faster. On four days, at the same time a total of 7 alpine, 2 freeride and 3 tour categories were tested and even the youth ski test could be carried out with the students of the SKI MS Feistritz / Drau.

Mölltaler Glacier – the loveliest panorama

The Mölltaler Glacier is Carinthia's only glacier ski area and spans a height from 1200 m to 3122 m. Get there, pause and enjoy the loveliest views. 17 pistes, 6 km downhill variants and plenty of space in the terrain – that is skiing on the Mölltaler Glacier.

Yet the glacier provides even more: optimum training conditions, fantastic snow area, perfect ski runs. For these three reasons the Mölltaler Glacier is way up there with the world's best skiers when it comes to preparing for races. Superb training conditions reign on the Mölltaler Glacier from the middle of September. The very well-tended compact snow pistes in Carinthia's only glacier ski area get the stars of the international ski scene in shape. It is not without reason that the Mölltaler Glacier is the official training area for Austria's ski teams and the German national Alpine ski team.

Fans get right up close to the stars in Panoramarestaurant Eissee at the glacier edge. Then it might even be that you will be eating your lunch with top athletes at the table next to you.

The Mölltaler Glacier belongs to Carinthia's highest ski fun – snow-assured and variety-packed - the same like Grossglockner/Heiligenblut and the Ankogel. Not forgetting the wonderful Emberger Alm family ski area.
