WorldSkitest Après Ski with Gala Night and Fashion Show

After hard days of testing skis, the WorldSkitest guys really deserved a break and as every year this fantastic event offered leisure and pleasure apart from the slopes as well.

Right at the kick off to this event, the promoters took the participants up on the mountain, in the famous Liechtensteinhaus for a relaxed get-together. A splendid dinner was served by the hosts, the Polleres family, to strength world class testers like Franz Klammer and friends.

Après Ski in the Grand Hotel…

After the first day of intensive test skiing, everybody met up in the wonderful ballroom at the famous Grand Hotel Panhans in order to regenerate after a hard day’s work. Only some guys like Fritz Strobl, Werner Franz and the Sledge Olympic Champions Andreas and Wolfgang Linger had to keep on “working” as they were acting as runway models for the Fashion Show. Meanwhile the other guests had their excellent dinner those guys were presenting the latest in ski fashion.

….with Luttenberger&Klug, Nordwand and the “junge Zillertaler”

Lots of great music was performed during this enjoyable evening, accompanied by ORF Master of Ceremony Marco Ventre. The attractive Austro Pop Stars of “Nordwand” seemed to be (and just only a little belated) the Austrian answer to the Backstreet Boys.

Luttenberger&Klug

They could be convinced to act as models after performing their act on stage, as well as Michelle Luttenberger and Christina Klug from Luttenberger*Klug, who did not only do a great music performance but also a great show on stage as perfect models for the fashionable ski wear. They sang their brand new hit “Fliegen” and got the audience excited with this new and some other well known songs. Quite understandable why again they got the Amadeus Music Award for the best Newcomers. The “junge Zillertaler” sang their well known party hit “So a schöner Tag” and got some of the guests to the dance floor – just the right thing to burn some of the previously gained calories. Après-Ski at its best…

Shop Talk in the Artis Hotel

The second evening was a great success as well as the remaining guests met the promoters and journalists for shop talk in the comfortable Artis Hotel. A rich buffet with lots of local and international specialties made for a perfect dinner and gave the best basis for extensive talks about rim grip, ski design and the big question, which ski was hidden under the black tape. It would have been nothing for laymen as the guys were talking shop - mainly in English - on the highest level but the overall opinion was crystal clear: at the end of the season everybody was already really excited about the new season and could hardly wait for summer to be over.

Michaela Gerg-Leitner
(Ex German World Class Skier)

The WST is the most professional ski test I have ever seen and heard of. To tape the skis black and make them unrecognizable is a very good idea as they prevent people to support their preferred brands.

Nicola Werdenigg
(Edelwiser)

A broad spectrum of test people and an exciting test system- due to the blackened skis there is no influence and results are really objective. And for the industry it is an enormous challenge to produce skis that are really inviting and a pleasure to ski with.

Franz Klammer
(Head of Testing)

We want to support and help the customer, not to find the best, but the right ski for him/her. Personally I don´t really care about design and colors: a ski has to be a ski!

Verena Höllbacher
(European Cup)

Those skis in the category “Ladies Slalom Race “demanded a lot…it is really impressive, what kind of skis the industry is bringing to the market every year.

Werner Franz
(Ex Austrian Worldcup Skier)

For me, the most important thing is the handling of the skis. When it comes to sales, design is also an important factor. I am also glad to see, that safety is an important issue with WST and almost everybody is wearing a helmet.

Raimund Berger
(Head of Testing)

WST is really significant as we do have again very good tester and test material. Safety is the crucial point as we do want to have an accident-free even

Marcel Hirscher
(Austrian Worldcup Skier)

With the WST top skiers are testing the models thoroughly and that is the perfect help for every customer. The latest trend: the modern design of the“free ski” is transferred to all the other categories.

Margita Marbler
(Freestyler)

I am so happy that I am able to help consumers with their buying decision. And for me personally, it is a very good time and it will hold lots of wonderful memories.

Bernard Vajdic
(Slovenian Skier)

It is my first time to take part at the WST, it´s great fun and organization is just perfect. I am looking forward coming back next year.

Fritz Strobl
(Olympic Champion)

I think that WST is a great thing, as it is fair and objective. In addition it is a perfect opportunity to test various models and learn the differences.

Ingrid Salvenmoser
(Ex Ski Star)

The testing procedure has been the same now for eight years and that only proves that the WST is significant and valid. In terms of safety a helmet and back protector should be standard on the slopes and just a natural thing to put on

Urska Hrovath
(Ex Ski Star)

It is my fourth time with WST and every single time has been a great experience. You meet lots of friends and have a real good time together. It is my fourth time with WST and every single time has been a great experience. You meet lots of friends and have a real good time together.

Hans Knauss
(ORF Expert)

Ski industry is constantly working on improvements of their models and this year there are some really good skis available. As a long-timer with WST I can only say: keep on going, everything is great!
